Radio WM – Couple of Co-op bargains
The Ned Sauvignon Blanc 2016 13%
Co-op £6.99 reduced from £9.39 – 25% off.
My favourite under a tenner New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc. Zesty lime, with gooseberry flavours polished off with a smoky finish. Particularly great value from the Co-op at the moment, because it’s worth every penny at the full price too.
Food match: Delicious with the usual – fish (trout, monk fish) and salads but also goat’s cheese and Thai food.
Baron de Ley Reserva 2011 13.5%
Co-op £9.99
Tempranillo based Rioja which has been aged for 20 months in American oak, and then a further 24 months in bottle. You might sniff aromas of coconut and toffee along with cherry and a slightly herby note. When you taste it, it’s very red-fruit in character, smooth and soft.
Food Match: I’m loving this with lamb and red-currant jelly.
