Tesco Finest Premier Cru Champagne
£16 reduced from £19 12.5% abv
Is it wrong to celebrate the kids going back to school? If it is, think of another reason for buying this champagne ……like, it’s Friday. Fizz Friday! This award-winning champagne never lets you down; it’s actually pretty complex for the price – citrusy, toasty with a really fine fizz. You don’t have to neck the whole bottle before dinner, it works great with food, too.
Dr L Riesling 2014
ASDA and Sainsbury’s £7 8.5%
Low-guilt drinking with this great value, low alcohol wine. It’s a perfect introduction to Riesling, that beloved grape of virtually every wine professional. This is off-dry in style with a crisp balancing acidity – the epitome of fruitiness.
Food match: great drinking on its own but try with that Friday night Chinese takeaway.
Winemakers Selection Gran Reserva Cariñena 2009
Sainsbury’s £5.00 13.5%
A veritable bargain! Here’s a perfect autumn wine at only a fiver. It really delivers a punch of spicy, rich dark fruit. It’s pretty lush and bold. It’s had lots of time ageing in barrel but then another 3 years letting all those flavours marry perfectly together in bottle.
Food match: rich casseroles, mature cheeses.
