Dourthe Reserve Sauvignon Blanc 2015 Majestic £6.99 (mixed 6 price) 12%
Attractive passionfruit and elderflower aromas, crisp and fresh by a great Bordeaux name, Dourthe. Bordeaux Blanc seems too often to slip under the radar. Don’t over-look them –they’ve got bags of elegance and style.
Food: great with goat’s cheese, salads and shellfish.
Santa Rita 120 Cabernet Franc 2015 Majestic £5.99 (mixed 6 price) 13.5%
A great picnic red (screwcap, too) from Cabernet Franc, rarely seen as a single varietal outside of the Loire. This is a great value, cherry-herby- fresh red from Chile. Not too heavy but with a softish rounded tannin finish.
Food: Tomato tart, duck in cherry jam sauce.
Mirabeau Côtes de Provence Waitrose £7.79 (reduced from £9.79 until 26th July) 13.5%
Pale pink Provence Rosé; dry, light and beautifully drinkable. It’s a blend of three red grapes – Grenache, Cinsault and Syrah – refreshing, uplifting with lovely Summer Pudding flavours.
Food match: Perfect on its own in the sun or with cold cuts, strawberries or Summer Pudding.
