Mix Six from Majestic
We recommend these wines on offer at Majestic, showing the mix six price.
Pierre-Jean Sauvion, Sauvignon Blanc 2014/15 – Val de Loire – £6.99
Sauvignon Blanc undoubtedly makes ideal summer drinking – nothing wrong with adding an ice cube or some sparkling water when it is really hot! This is a textbook example, dry, zesty and refreshingly low in alcohol.
Krasno Sauvignon Blanc Ribolla Gialla 2015 – Slovenia – £6.99
If you enjoy Sauvignon and have an adventurous side, this lovely wine from Slovenia is well worth a shot. The dash of local grape Ribolla Gialla adds a welcome exotic twist.
Bosman Adama Fairtrade 2015 – South Africa – £9.99
Interesting, Chablis-esq blend from a top South African producer whose workers are part-owners of the business. The Adama red is equally good.
Soave Classico 2014 Inama – Italy – £9.99
One of the classiest dry white wines out there – much, much more interesting than most Soave and well worth a try.
Domaine de l’Aigle Pinot Noir 2012 – France – £9.99
A similar price to cheaper Burgundy, but this doesn’t taste cheap. Delicate, authentic Pinot Noir from a top producer near Carcassonne.
CUNE Rioja Reserva 2011 – Spain – £9.99
Majestic always carries a good range of Rioja, but quality can be mixed. Not from CUNE, one of Spain’s most reliable wine names. – this is very polished and will make great drinking over the next 2 to 3 years.
Champagne J De Telmont Grande Reserve – £14.99
For some reason that we cannot fathom, BYWine finds it hard to compile a list of recommendations without featuring Champagne! The De Telmont is definitely one of the better inexpensive producers.
