Radio WM – two from Slurp
Hofmann Riesling Trocken ‘Vom Roten Stein’ Niersteiner 2014
Slurp £12.95 (from £14.95)
For TRY January, I urge you to buy a Riesling, this Riesling in fact. It’s dry and jam-packed full of exotic aromas and flavours. Smell passion-fruit, papaya and mango; in the taste, the feisty acidity it’s more like green apples and pears. It’s medium-bodied with long, lasting flavours.
Food match: Great on its own or try with Chinese or Thai dishes, tempura and also delicate fish dishes.
Zorzal Terroir Unico Malbec 2014
Slurp £9.95 (from £11.95)
Argentinian Malbec often over delivers and this one does it in spades. Richly expressive – dark fruits, cinnamon, liquorice and coffee – there’s a satiny mouthfeel which gives a classiness as well as that Friday evening feel good factor. Perfect for a snowy night in.
Food match: Chilli Con Carne, Moussaka, Venison
