These few recommendations below from Waitrose Cellar (their online wine site) are excellent value wines but there are more in this promotion which might also appeal to you and help you to make up a case. Or two. So do take a look. The prices marked are the 25% off offer price
Laurent Miquel Vérité Viognier 2012 £11.24
A good match for turkey, full-bodied, with rich stone fruit character. Goose is apparently the bird to go for in 2016 – this would be ideal with roast goose and apricot stuffing.
De Martino Single Vineyard Parcel 5 Sauvignon Blanc 2015 £13.49
Exotic fruit aromas, layered, complex and stimulating now, with the potential for even more depth with age.
Ata Rangi Lismore Pinot Gris 2015 £18.74
Ata Rangi has a very well-deserved reputation for producing exciting wines. Try this Pinot Gris which is grapefruit fresh, yet with an oatmeal roundness and spicy edge.
Rustenberg John X Merriman 2013 £10.99
Bordeaux blends always go down well at Christmas and Rustenberg’s is a good ’un. Understated, classic cassis and plum fruit, smart tobacco and savoury finish.
Orovela Saperavi 2008 £12.49
For something a little different, try this concentrated cherry and juicy blackberry styled wine from Georgia. Smoky, warming, perfect to drink by the fire.
There are also some bargain champagnes to be had:
Pol Roger Brut Réserve £31.99
Pol Roger Brut 2006 £45.59 (drink it or keep it)
Waitrose Special Brut Reserve 2005 £19.99
And also……..Sandeman’s 20 year old Tawny Port £29.99
