BYWine’s first tasting of 2014 is a change from the usual ‘spicy reds for Winter’ theme as is common at this time of year. We’ve gone for a nonconformist selection of interesting, eclectic but above all great white wines and we’re going to show them off with a little food. Those of you who have regularly attended our tastings know that we like to show wines that are out of the ordinary and that the quality of information is also well above average partly because one of us is a Master of Wine but mostly because we just love what we do – sharing knowledge, sharing wine and, in this case, also sharing food.

And here are a few of the wines as tempters to what we will be tasting:

Château Brown Blanc 2010, Pessac-Léognan (Bordeaux) – a Double Trophy Winner

Didier Dagueneau Pouilly-Fumé Silex 2007 (Loire)

Riesling Grand Cru Domaine Rietsch 2011 (Alsace)

Bichot Chablis Grand Cru Les Vaudésirs 2007 (Burgundy)

Iona Chardonnay 2012 (South Africa)

Atlantis Santorini 2012 (Greece)

Now, it may be rather unseemly to say this, but that’s around £150 worth of very tasty stuff right there. And there will be more wines and carefully chosen nibbles to accompany them – with any luck, perfectly complementing their flavours.

£25 for members, £28 for non-members
