tea-leaf-cheninThe Tea Leaf Chenin Blanc 2014 £12.50 Noel Young Wines

A brilliant wine for the price from old vines with rooibos tea bushes, made by one of South Africa’s exciting new wine-making talents. It’s from Piekernierskloof which is much easier to say after you’ve had a glass of this singing, zingy, spicy wine which lingers on and on. Gorgeous.

Food Match: Lemon and ginger chicken, sushi, pork and apple

A wine for that crossing over period from summer to winter – it smells and tastes of the red berry fruits but also has a slightly gamey edge.  Depending on what you are drinking this with you could chill it very slightly otherwise serve it at around 16/18 degrees with a mushroom or lamb dish. From the Pfalz in Germany where ever better Pinot Noirs like this one are being produced.
